Published in Asimovs October/November 2000. Following the events of "Procrustes," Beowulf Shaeffer finds himself onboard a passenger ship, the Odysseus, just as it is being overtaken by Kzinti pirates. Shaeffer is taken prisoner and develops an unusual alliance with a non-practicing Kzinti Telepath called Fly-by-Night and his octopus-like Jotoki slave, Paradoxical. |
